Property Description

40-Acre Wooded Michigan Recreational Parcel For Sale. This wooded parcel is located just a mile north-west of the unincorporated community of Bergland, which is situated at the junction of M-28 and M-64 on the northern end of beautiful Lake Gogebic, the largest inland lake in the U.P. Lake Gogebic has13,380 acres of prime fishing water that teems with walleye, small-mouth bass, northern pike, jumbo perch and whitefish. This awesome water body has 36-miles of shoreline, and is just a mile south of the property offered for sale. Almost one million acres of the Ottawa National Forest are located in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan - which extends from the south shore of Lake Superior to the Wisconsin border. Across the road from the southern border of the parcel being offered for sale is access to these Forest lands which provide prime hunting for deer, bear, small game and birds. Bergland, is considered the gateway to the Western U.P. and Big Snow Country. With an annual snowfall of nearly 300 inches, this area has the best snowmobile trail system in the country, extending throughout the Upper Peninsula. Cross country ski trails provide quieter passage through the woods, and five major downhill ski / snowboarding facilities are less than a hour's drive away. The groomed Bergland to Sidnaw Rail Snowmobile Trail runs next to the property. The property has over a quarter mile of mowed trails, and mowed fields planted with blue grass and white clover. Two hundred apple trees, large pine and oaks, red maples, yellow birch, and hemlock as well as raspberries and blueberries cover the property. There are hidden small valleys, and high points with views of the rugged Trap Hills in the distance. The Trap Hills are part of a wilderness area that is home to undisturbed habitat, boreal and northern hardwood forests, cedar swamps, lichen-encrusted cliffs and acres designated as primary old-growth forest. The parcel has seasonal creeks running
through it, which are tributaries to the Amundsan Creek which flows into the Big Iron River. The Big Iron continues flowing northward for 28+/- miles before entering Lake Superior at the village of Silver City. The 4.3 mile long, White Pine to Silver City section of the Big Iron, are used for whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling - and is determined by American Whitewater to be a class Ii-Iii Section. A large, one quarter mile long by 100-Yards wide, spring fed beaver pond is also a feature of this property. The terrain, water features and other many qualities of this property attract wildlife of all kinds. Game species such as whitetail Deer, Black Bear, as well as grouse frequent the property. Turkeys also inhabit this land. Waterfowl such tundra whooping swans, cranes, and ducks visit the ponds and creeks. The current Owner has hunted the property, but there is an elevated deer stand located along on of the many deer trails that
cross the parcel.  MLS# 1114935
